General Contractor (GC)

The GC is the company hired by the owner to manage and deliver a construction project. The GC is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the construction site, procurement and management of all subcontractors and vendors, schedule and budget management, safety compliance, and communication with the owner and design team. The GC holds the prime contract with the owner and, in turn, contracts directly with trade subcontractors. On CM at Risk projects, the GC may also provide preconstruction services including cost estimating, value engineering, and procurement planning.
