Scope of Work

The SOW is a defined description of all work a contractor or subcontractor is responsible for performing under a contract. It specifies the extent, boundaries, and deliverables of the contracted work, including what is included and what is excluded. A well-written SOW is the foundation of a clear subcontract and reduces the risk of disputes over scope gaps or overlaps during construction. On bid packages, the SOW is typically presented as a scope sheet that lists inclusions, exclusions, and division of responsibility.
